SUBMISSION OF THE REPORT OF THE TRIBUNAL OF INQUIRY INTO THE CIVIL DISTURBANCES AT LEKKI FREE TRADE ZONE AT LAGOS HOUSE

ADDRESS DELIVERED BY HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR OF LAGOS STATE, MR. AKINWUNMI AMBODE, AT THE SUBMISSION OF THE REPORT OF THE TRIBUNAL OF INQUIRY INTO THE CIVIL DISTURBANCES AT LEKKI FREE TRADE ZONE AT LAGOS HOUSE, IKEJA ON 6TH DECEMBER, 2016.

PROTOCOLS

On October 22nd, 2015, this administration set up a 5-Man Tribunal of Inquiry into the causes of the civil disturbances which occurred at the Lekki Free Trade Zone on 12th October, 2015 with the primary aim of inquiring into the origin, factors and circumstances leading to this breach of the peace.

 

The Lekki Free Trade Zone is an important project to the Lagos State economy and is key to our job creation efforts. We will do everything to ensure the success of the project and any issues concerning the success of this project will be treated with dispatch.

 

The Report of the Tribunal has been submitted today. The State Government will give serious consideration to the recommendations of the Tribunal and take decisions to ensure to ensure that such an incident does not recur.

 

Let me assure members of the public and investors alike that this Government will always uphold the Rule of Law and continue to provide a conducive atmosphere for businesses to thrive.

 

I wish to express my appreciation to Members of the Tribunal for diligently carrying out this assignment within the time frame given and hope that you would be willing and ready to serve the State in future when called upon.
